Published: Monday, March 5, 2007

William “Jeff” Gillespie, warden of the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail, pleaded not guilty Friday to a fifth-degree felony charge at his initial court appearance in Athens Municipal Court.

Judge William Grim released Gillespie without bond, provided he remains a law-abiding citizen. Gillespie’s next hearing is scheduled for March 12.

Gillespie was charged Feb. 23 with unauthorized use of computers for allegedly showing a female jail employee adult pornography on his office computer Jan. 24.

Gillespie, who makes a $54,075 salary, has been on paid administrative leave since Jan. 31.
