Ohio University police discovered stolen goods in the dorm room of an OU student arrested Thursday.

Thomas Collins, 19, of Pickerington, was charged with receiving stolen property and aggravated robbery after a search of his room in Pickering Hall. The search revealed wallets, personal electronic devices, cell phones, drugs, cash, cameras and laptop computers, according to an OUPD news release. The release did not specify the type of drugs or the total value of the goods.

President Roderick McDavis placed Collins on immediate interim suspension Friday, banning him from OU property and from attending classes until the results of the court case are determined.

Collins was arraigned in Athens Municipal Court on Friday morning and is still in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

If convicted, Collins could face three to 10 years in prison for the first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery, according to the Ohio Revised Code. The punishment for receiving stolen property depends on the value of the goods received.

Collins was arrested hours after a crime alert was released for a group of college-aged males who allegedly assaulted and robbed another male.
