Tammy Bruce, conservative author and radio personality, will speak tonight at Bentley Hall.
Sponsored by Ohio University College Republicans, Bruce will present “Inside the Left’s Assault on Free Speech and Free Minds” and discuss the emphasis placed on political correctness in the feminist and gay rights movements.
Bruce is a self-described “openly-gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted-for-Bush authentic feminist,” according to her Web site. She has authored several books, hosts a radio talk show and is a Fox News Channel political analyst.
“We just thought it would be really relevant on this campus because the LGBT group is very vocal,” said Tiffany Hoke, a member of College Republicans. “We just thought out of all the people we could ask to come, she would be the most relevant to people on this campus.”
Bruce will be speaking about her experience with the National Organization for Women and her decision to leave that movement, Hoke said. The speech will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
“We really want a lot of people on campus to come,” she said. “We really want this to be attractive, or at least really interesting, to a lot of people.”
