An Ohio University student was arraigned with charges of rape and kidnapping yesterday after allegedly sexually assaulting a female student Sunday morning.

Bail for sophomore Matthew C. Kulchar of Columbus was set at $100,000 for both charges, according to the Athens County Municipal Court. 

Drug and alcohol might have been factors in the incident, which occurred between midnight and 1:37 a.m. Sunday, according to an Ohio University Police Department report.

Kulchar was taken to Southeast Ohio Regional Jail, and the case is still under investigation.
