Coach Dave Cooley’s team returns almost all of their top players from last season. The Bobcats lost only two players from the team that finished seventh in the Mid-American Conference last season.
Tim Gusweiler looks to build on his strong finish to last spring’s season. Gusweiler tied for 10th at the MAC Championship last season, shooting a nine over par for the tournament.
The junior had the second highest stroke average on the team, averaging a 76.26 stroke per round in the nine tournaments he played in.
Senior Chad Warmbein was the team leader in stroke average last season with 75.93. He was the only Bobcat golfer to play in all 29 rounds of the season.
Junior Stewart Jamieson was another top competitor for Ohio last season. He had a 76.92 stroke average in nine tournaments. Jamieson shot the fourth lowest round in Ohio history at the Yestingsmeier Invitational with a career-best 66 in the second round.
James Ellis had the second- highest finish for a Bobcat at the MAC Championship, finishing 21st with a 16 over par. The senior played in six events last season and had a stroke average of 76.83.
Ohio also added two freshmen to the program in Paul Grauer and John Mlynarski. Grauer, a Dublin native, was first-team All-Ohio at Dublin Jerome. Mlynarski was one of the top golfers in the state.
The Bobcats will look to improve on their 13th-place finish at last season’s Piper Intercollegiate today.
