THE FIRST HALF

- OU GOAL @ 33:00, Ohio wasted no time redeeming itself from yesterday's loss to Kent State... Katelyn Shelley took a shot from the baseline and it slipped past MSU goalie Jessica Schuster

- Penalty corner attempt for Missouri State... Two shots can't get past Ohio's Jessie Martin

- OU GOAL @ 20:00, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio... Nikki Gnozzio led off the play and the ball ended up on the stick of Rachelle Coetzee, who blew a shot past Schuster

SCORE: OU 2, MSU 0

- 15:01, A strong but high shot from R. Coetzee nearly took off the head of MSU' s Ramie Masters... Masters walked off the field under her own power, but a nice, big ice bag was waiting for her on the sideline

- While it’s tough to tell if it’s because of a different competition or a different output by Ohio, but the offensive attack looks much more cohesive today… The Bobcats are bringing the ball into the Bears’ box on a regular basis, and the 2-0 score is obviously an improvement… Brittany Zorn just sent a shot right to the chest of Schuster

- 7:50, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Dull sent a solid shot to the right of Schuster, but the MSU goalkeeper laid out for the stop

- 7:05, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Louzeth Schutte was set up but pulled her shot to the left of the goal

- OU GOAL @ 2:17, Marcy Dull crossed the ball in front of the goal, and Shelley pushed it through the MSU defense for her second score of the day

HALFTIME SCORE: OU 3, MSU 0

First half notes and thoughts…

- Ohio is definitely playing like a team with something to prove… After an extremely stagnant offensive outing yesterday, I imagine Macmillan put a chip on his forwards’ shoulders, and – if so – it’s paying off

- If you don’t believe me about Ohio’s improvement offensively, the numbers tell the story… Shot totals: Ohio 12, Missouri State 3… Contrast that statistic with yesterday’s final numbers (KSU 6, OU 4), and the 3-0 lead for Ohio at the half is a little less surprising

- I’d be surprised to see any kind of breakdown for the Bobcats in the second half… They’re playing like a team with a purpose and are probably the better team on the field regardless

THE SECOND HALF

- And the second 35 minutes is under way… With a likely Ohio victory at the other end

- 33:00, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… A bump from Lauren Stahlhuth to Schutte but the shot was wide left

- 31:35, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… R. Coetzee’s shot is blocked but Ohio’s set up for another penalty corner

- 31:00, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Stahlhuth bumps to a fake by Schutte and a shot by R. Coetzee, but it veers wide right

- 30:20, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Bobcats fail to get off any quality shot

- 27:15, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… A little miscue on the bump leads to a weak shot from R. Coetzee, which dribbles to the right of the goal

- 25:09, Timeout for the Bears… They haven’t been able to generate anything close to an offense in the first ten minutes of the first half (while Ohio has been mercilessly attacking their goal), so I imagine this is a “stop-the-bleeding” kind of break

- 20:45, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Another bump from Stahlhuth to Schutte… Maybe Macmillan’s trying to set her up as his alternative to Rachelle… I imagine opponents have keyed in that the Coetzee’s are often the focus of Ohio’s penalty corner plays… Schutte’s shots haven’t looked bad, but she might have to do more than rear back and fire

- SID Michael Wiseman said Ohio has achieved its highest shot total of the season with 26 attempts today… That tops the 25 that the Bobcats put up against Georgetown… Another shot-on-goal (Ohio has 14) will also mark the highest total for Ohio in that category

- 11:25, Penalty corner attempt for Ohio… Katherine Ballard took a shot-on-goal with a bump from Stahlhuth (to give Ohio a season-high in shots on goal) but Schuster laid her body down to block the ball

- Five minutes to go, and it appears that Ohio will rebound nicely from its potentially demoralizing loss to Kent State yesterday… The offense is back with a vengeance (although, again, consider the competition), setting season highs in shots, shots on goal and penalty corners, according to Wiseman

- MSU GOAL @ 4:24, After starter Jessie Martin exited the goal for freshman Jen McGill, the Bears took advantage… Working with a fast break, Sarah Johnson worked her way around the box and – although McGill made an effort to be aggressive in a very Martin-esque way – pushed the ball to the right corner of the goal… Still, it’s probably too little, too late

SCORE: OU 3, MSU 1

- And time is winding down here at Pruitt Field with the one-minute warning just announced over the PA system… Looks like Ohio will coast to another MAC conference win but must look to some help from Miami and anticipate its upcoming match-up with the RedHawks to move back into the conference lead

FINAL SCORE: OU 3, MSU 1
