About The Post

The Post is a student-run daily newspaper serving Ohio University, Athens and Athens County that publishes about 14,000 newspapers every day Ohio University classes are in session. The Post is editorially independent of the university and the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and overseen by The Post Publishing Board.

This year, The Post is making efforts to become an all-accessible news source that Athens and alumni turn to first. On our Web site, you will find stories as were published in the paper, as well as coverage of news and events as they develop during the day and stories that appear exclusively online. With a registered username, you can post your opinion and reaction to the news below each story as a reader comment. A new look and organization we’re planning to unveil in the coming months will include other new features, including an Athens-area event calendar for which you can submit listings, video and audio reports, photo slide shows and a weekly poll.

Our plans for the Web site mean the printed Post and its online counterpart will become more divergent as new features are added. The Web site won’t continue to be a direct reflection of the day’s newspaper, but will instead be a comprehensive look at life in action, including the stories published in the day’s newspaper. Generally, the site and the paper will take on a sort of partnership in which one complements the other and encourages readership on both parts.

As this change is planned and implemented, we want to hear what you’d like to see in The Post’s new form. Would you like to receive a daily morning e-mail digest of top stories and occasional breaking news alerts? Would you like to be able to post your own video for all of our readers to see? Is navigation particularly challenging on the current site?
