Weddings all over television

Laurel... I'm getting married! Well, not really. But I must say I have been inspired after a week of season finales full of characters getting hitched. This is the time to shed a tear for 90210 and remember the best of the best season finales.

The Sopranos

The last episode of the season mirrors a Mafia-like story.

Despite his recent success, Tony continues to doubt Pussy's loyalty. Tony dreams that a fish-like Pussy confesses to working for the feds. Tony awakens motivated to find out the truth and discovers FBI tapes during a search of Pussy's house.

So Tony has Pussy join him, Silvio and Paulie for a test ride on a boat. After a confrontation with Tony, Pussy admits he's a rat. Next, the boys shoot Pussy and push him into the ocean.

Once at home, Tony gets a frantic phone call from Livia. The tickets Tony gave her (which were stolen from the Scatinos) were stolen. Before Tony can hang up the phone, the FBI shows up to find the rest of the stolen tickets in Tony's car. You just can't trust those Sopranos.

Ally McBeal

Ally introduces Brian to her parents. They go out to dinner where the night begins to fall apart. Ally's insane nervousness coupled with her father's hostile attitude creates an awkward environment, which Ally is forced to depart.

The next morning Ally's dad drops by the office and a revelation takes place. Basically, Ally's upset that her dad didn't show up at Billy's funeral.

After a party that evening, Ally returns home to find her dad waiting for her. Finally, Ally's dad admits he avoided Billy's funeral because he hated to see Ally in so much pain. He performs a song on the piano and the healing begins.

Friends

Rach, Phebes and Joey (whose overall intelligence is somewhere between Homer Simpson and Wil E. Coyote) attend a silent auction where Joey's $20,000 sailboat bid is the winner. After winning, he tells Rachel he thought it was just a guessing game. Chandler is planning on proposing to Monica, but wants the occasion to be perfect.

The next day, that pesky guy Richard comes into Monica's restaurant where he proclaims his undying love for her. After taking Joey's advice, Chandler begins putting on a charade to fool Monica. He wants to surprise her with the proposal and is trying to throw her off track.

Upset and confused, Monica seeks Joey's advice. Joey, thinking that they are still trying to hide the proposal, tells Monica that Chandler is not a "getting married kind of guy." Monica tells him that Chandler may not marry her, but Richard will. Chandler returns and Joey informs him Monica has left. Devastated, he enters the apartment where Monica gets on her knees and asks Chandler to marry her.

Beverly Hills 90210

After 10 years, the friends of 90210 say goodbye with, of course, a wedding. How original. But just as David and Donna are tying the knot, Kelly's life is falling apart. Where's Brandon when ya' need him?

Kelly is still agonizing over Dylan and Matt, but the choice becomes easy. Matt screws up by telling Kelly of his recent desert infidelity, after thinking Dylan already told her. Steve and Janet decide they work best as a team at home and at work, and they decide to buy the new magazine that already employs Janet.

Matt returns home for his brother's funeral and decides to be a father for his son. Kelly has moved on, and she and Dylan appear to be heading for a new beginning.

The second hour features David and Donna's storybook wedding. All's well that ends well in Beverly. Admit you cried after the group hug ending.
