Sunshine Anderson sings soul
In a world of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, half-naked
women and gangs of pop stars there is Sunshine Anderson's debut album,
Your Woman, which takes us back to the basics.
And the "basics" is a singer who can produce some good soul music.
Joining a list of new soul artists such as India Arie and Jill Scott,
Sunshine's rich voice takes listeners on a mind-blowing trip through the
ups and downs of life.
The Charlotte, N.C. native originally went to college to get her
Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, and though she succeeded and
obtained her degree, Sunshine had music in her heart. After working a
government job in Washington DC, Sunshine realized that making music was
her real passion. After years of hard work and determination, Your
Woman was released.
Although Sunshine's hit single "Heard It All Before" has a kick-your-man-to-the-curb
vibe, that's not all Your Woman offers. The 13-track CD also has
advice for listeners about how they can have great relationships.
In the song "He Said, She Said," Sunshine tells her partner that
they may have a chance if they can communicate without letting their friends
get involved. On "Letting Down My Guard," Sunshine relays the story of
a woman who was hurt in the past, but has decided to move on and not carry
her bad experiences into new relationships. "Saved The Day" is a song
that celebrates a woman having someone to come home to after a hard day's
work, which makes a gloomy day brighter.
Mike City produced all of the tracks on ¥our Woman. City
also is responsible for hits like Carl Thomas's "I Wish" and Dave Hollister's
"One Woman Man," which both became Billboard Top 10 hits. Your Woman
is a great album due to the fact that most of the urban music being played
today is male or female bashing. Your Woman offers an alternative
for those people who have found true love.
